Waste Audits:

The Waste Link® audit process provides a comprehensive assessment of waste generation activities, handling practices and removal services. Our intensive waste and recycling program assessment is designed to identify potential changes to current operating procedures that will immediately improve efficiency and reduce your waste expenses.

Our waste minimization consulting services are provided on a contingency basis that provides you with a low-risk opportunity to fully understand all aspects of waste generation. The professional fee for services is based upon savings calculated by comparing actual waste program costs before and after the audit. If no savings are realized, there is no fee.
The Waste Link® comprehensive audit process can be separated into four areas: Data Collection, Analysis and Recommendations, Implementation and Monitoring. Each area is discussed in greater detail below.

Step 1 - Data Collection
The initial phase of the audit involves extensive data gathering. Our team will collect detailed information on all aspects of waste generation at the facility through tours, observations, interviews and record reviews. All major waste streams will be identified and quantified for evaluation including the following:

  Construction and Demolition Waste Management
  Hazardous Waste Management
  Universal Waste Management
  Mixed Office Paper Recycling
  HIPAA regulated paper recycling
  Cardboard Recycling
  Glass/Plastic/Aluminum can recycling
  Grease disposal
  Biohazardous Waste Management
Mercury Pollution Prevention and Reduction Program
Items for Re-use such as Medical Equipment, Wood Pallets, Furniture and Toner Cartridges
Lead-Based Paint remediation projects and associated disposal
  Carcinogenic Chemicals
Reclamation of Salvageable Material such as scrap metals, computer equipment and electronics

Step 2 - Analysis and Recommendations
Once all data is obtained, we will conduct a comprehensive analysis to determine cost reduction and operational improvement opportunities. Our experts will examine all relevant technical data, expenses and contracts and make recommendations in the following areas:

  Waste handling
  Waste generation reduction
  Waste segregation
Affirmative Procurement Programs for Products with minimal packaging
  Improved vendor services or contracts
  New equipment technologies

Step 3 – Implementation
Following customer’s approval of the recommendations, we will coordinate and implement the associated training and education process, negotiate with vendors to optimize service levels, and “right-size” existing equipment. Additionally, Waste Link can develop the following WASTE MINIMIZATION programs and procedures:

  Significant Impact determination
  Legal Requirements
  Targets and Objectives
  Responsibility Matrix
  Training Program
Communication to External and Internal Parties
  Document and Record Control
  Operational Controls
  Emergency Planning and Response
  Monitoring and Measuring Procedure
Non-Conformance and Corrective and Preventive Action
  Gap Analysis Program Review
Annual Program Effectiveness Review and Report

Step 4 – Monitoring
Following implementation of the comprehensive audit recommendations, we remain part of the customer's team for the duration of the consulting agreement. Ongoing support and involvement includes:

Constant program monitoring through facility observation and records review
Resources to resolve new problems and evaluate new technologies
Handling of future bids to ensure that maximum savings continue
Resisting adverse developments and price increases
